Resident Pundit Mahendra Persad presides over NTHM's Sunday Services
and observance of the major Hindu religious occasions. His discourses
are well received by the devotees and several members have expressed
their appreciation of Pundit Ji's discourses and how they look forward
to the next Sunday Service. Here's is a copy of an e-mail sent to
Pundit Ji from a family in the Congregation: Subject:
Diwali ki Shub Kamnaaiye
Pujiye Pundithji/Pyaare Bhaiya
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your lovely family a
very happy Diwali indeed. May the Lord grant
your every wish and may all the successes in the world be yours
to enjoy.
Thank you for all the knowledge that you impart with us in you
discourses. In your talk last night you mentioned how one diya
can light up a thousand diyas and remove darkness. How wonderful
it sounded and I like to say that symbolically You are that Diya
that helps us remove that "Andhkaar". In the opening verses
of the Ramayaan, I read this morning, Sant Tulsidaasji states that
"Binu Satsangh vivek na hoyi" and now I realize how important
it is for us to get that enlightenment. I know that your teachings
are going to help me get closer to God and isn't that what we all
want.
I really want to acknowledge and thank you for being that guiding
light. I want you to know that it is much
appreciated by (name withheld) and myself. You
and your family are in our thoughts and prayers on this auspicious
day.

Pundit
Munelal Maharaj |
In September 2002, visiting
Pundit Munelal Ji of Trinidad inspired us all with his melodious bhajan
singing and superb harmonium playing, his illustrative and sometimes
light-hearted presentations embedded with several meaningful messages,
and his magnetic yet humble personality. This weekend is a weekend
we will always remember. For pictures of this memorable event, please
